WHAT WE BECOME
The answer, if fully understood, will bring anyone anything and everything we genuinely want. And it’s deceptively simple. Perhaps it is too simple.
YOU MUST HAVE GOALS
To understand the subject, and the importance of goal setting, we must realize that it is the very basis of any success. It is, in fact, the very definition of success.
It means that anyone who’s on course toward the fulfillment of a goal is successful now. Success does not lie in the achievement of a goal, although that is what the world considers success; it lies in the journey toward the goal.
We are successful when we are working toward something that we want to bring about in our lives.
A goal is an individual thing – as individual as each person. Since no two people are exactly alike, it stands to reason that no two of us will have exactly the same goals.
One thing any goal must do is fill us with positive emotion when we think about it; it must be something we genuinely want. The more intense we feel about an idea or a goal, the more assuredly the idea, buried deep in our mind and associated with action, will direct us along the path to its fulfillment.
That is when human beings are at their best, as I mentioned in the last message when I said, as humans, we are only happy when we are “Making Progress”
Happiness always comes from the direction in which we are moving. For example, we are happier on our way out to dinner than we are on the way home. We are happier preparing to leave on vacation than we are coming home from it. And believe it or not, we are happier moving toward our goals than we are after they have been accomplished. That’s called making progress.
Here is an exercise for you to get you started on the path to what it is you genuinely want in life. Like anything in life if you do the work, you will receive the reward...
- Make out a want list — write down everything that you would like to see come about in your life.
- After you have completed your want list, number the items in their order of importance.
- Make item number one as your present primary goal; use the balance of the list for later reference.
